TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the value of hiring an agent for the DTV visa application process in Thailand. Experiences shared include success stories of self-application via YouTube tutorials and the potential risks of using agents, especially with recent crackdowns on fraudulent practices. Some recommend agents for their expertise and efficiency, while others argue that competent individuals can succeed without assistance. Key considerations mentioned are the financial requirements, the quality of agents available, and personal preferences based on individual circumstances.

I paid about 150 usd for an agent in Pattaya and they helped me a lot. I can recommend an agent for applying DTV.

Why would you want to do it yourself, risk being rejected and pay for a second or even a third application when an agent guarantees you success in one shot and in just a few days for merely a few thousand baht?

I did mines, I watched some YouTube videos, to help me and I was approved!šŸ™šŸæ

While you pay a significantly higher price with an agent, they checked all the paperwork and showed a lot of patience with me who is very slow with that stuff ( brain damage after stroke). At the end it’s up to my embassy and i was leaving for visiting family anyway, they did a clean application and wrote a text in thai that my hospital understands to give me the signed proof of regular medical treatment

Let’s put significantly higher into perspective:

300 or even 500 Ā£/€/$

For an agent to nearly guarantee an approval.

Be on call almost
****
and answer all of your questions

Walk you through every step

Apply and triple check your app

Provide a refund if rejected

Have experience with all supporting docs

Have experience with consulate staff and knowing what they’re looking for

Providing accurate approval timelines

Oh! And it’s for FIVE YEARS.

Agents are worth it.

Ahhhh bup bup bup bup

Yes, you can do it on your own cheaper. At what cost? Mentally, time wise, etc

Do what makes the most sense for you.

If you dont have the 500k baht to show its worth a try. But recently thai government is arresting those agents. You will be denied entry and visa voided or even get ban for future entry if you get caught.

If you have the money agents are not worth at all. A 15 years old with an AI knowledge can prepare the documents.

Anonymous participant 690 Pardon me but that's not 🚫 correct.

A Thai Visa Agent cannot get you the DTV visa by using fraud in proof of your having a bank account in your name only with 500,000 Thai baht or more for the required months.

You are confusing the DTV visa.

YES, very early on in a few Applications, some Agents tried to fool the Thai Embassy or Consulate where a DTV Visa Application was made. That was quickly discovered by the Thai Embassy or Consulates... and applications were denied.

its still happening mate. Give me some rewards i will point them to you šŸ˜‚

Anonymous participant 690 It's sad to hear of your claim. It only will lead to a crackdown on the DTV visa similar to what happened to the Ed visas and Volunteer Visa fraud of recent years.

In fact another Ed Visa crackdown is now happening in Thailand with thousands of fraudulently obtained Ed Visas being cancelled.

we didn't use an agent for our first application workaction route in Hanoi, which was rejected. Then we got a visa agent (Siam Legal) for our 2nd attempt & it has been extremely useful for us. Regretted that we didn't do it the first time. I guess if you go the soft power route, you should be fine, if you go the work action route, it might make more sense as they seem to be asking for more documents & they can help you make sure you submit the most appropriate ones.

I submitted in Hanoi as remote worker. Just followed their document list and added a cover letter. Approved in 4 days. There’s really no need for an agent.

@Claudia *******
why was it rejected? Did they tell you?
Claudia ********
@Zarko ******
even reading and understanding the the need for the applications it was still rejected. Our case was that we had a non b visa before with our digital business in Thailand, we assume that they didn’t like that even though we don’t have any business in Thailand now. If you don’t have a history with a non b visa then you should be ok without an agent. But again, personal preference.

Anonymous participant 373 hey mate can I ask you a question please ? … I’ve been working for a company based in Australia whilst traveling the last 6 months spending most of my time in Chiangmai . I met a guy last week who said I can apply for the Dtv visa using my permanent work contract ? Just wanted to confirm is it as simple as providing that along with my bank accounts showing the 500,000 baht + funds ?
