Is it common for immigration officers to visit after applying for a NON O retirement visa in Thailand?

Curious to know if anyone who applied for a NON O retirement was told when they applied for it at changwattna that they will have an immigration officer visit? Seems if you’re under 60 they find it suspicious to retire despite law saying you can apply after 50 years if you meet all the requirements.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many applicants for the NON O retirement visa at Chaengwattana report that it is common to receive a visit from an immigration officer during the review period after application. This practice seems standard, particularly for those over 50 who meet the requirements. Those who have received visits note that the officers typically call ahead and the visit is brief, indicating that such visits are not seen as suspicious or unusual.

I've had visits from immigration in Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, and Krabi. Initial application, then annual extensions on a non-o. So have many of my pals, most of whome are over 60.

Actually applying for the initial 90 day Non-O visa based on being over 50 at Chaengwattana in Section C-1 has had most people get a visit from an immigration officer during the two week "under review" period from when you applied/paid and when you go back to get the Non-O visa and new 90 day stamp inked in.

It is not unusual at all and many people have posted they get a visit on their Non-O application so no reason to think they are suspicious or it is out of the ordinary 🙂

They'll call you before they show up, and it's usually just a few minute visit
