Is it common for Thai immigration officers to call and visit my condo after applying for a 90-day Non-Immigrant visa?

Hi, I went to apply a 90 days non immigrant visa today but was told that an officer will call me and fix an appointment to visit me in my condo. I wonder is that a common procedure? Anyone has similar experiences? Is that normal? 😅Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the procedure of immigration officers calling and visiting their condo after applying for a 90-day Non-Immigrant visa, expressing concern about its normalcy. Several commenters shared their experiences, noting that visits are more common for marriage visas and certain cases of Non-O visas, but not typical for general applications. They suggested that while such visits might occur, especially for those on a marriage visa, many users have not experienced it. Overall, the situation seems to vary based on the type of visa and individual circumstances.

On my first Marriage extension in Chiang Mai 3 or 4 immigration officials turned up. However, I certainly did not give them any money for their visit

If you offer, obviously they will accept. Maybe too many people are falling into the trap that a bung is expected.

My later renewals of the marriage extension no visits.

Exact same experience.

I am glad you had the same experience as me. I am fed up of people on here saying you have to give money. They are stupid if they do. If there paperwork is right, you don't have to pay unless you are stupid enough to fall for it.

I think for an INCOUNTRY Non imm. O they do I thought. You have a "in consideration stamp" in y'r passport ? 15-21 days ?

.

Aha
@Wai ****
. Sorry, bit confusing. Normally there is only a 60 days extension with the former Covid extensions or 60 days visit family 🤷‍♂️. Should you want an INCOUNTRY non imm. O, then it is possible you get an in consideration stamp. Only when that is passed, you get the normal non imm. O. Which then can be extended by a year extension based on e.g. marriage or retirement. To be 100% sure, ask in Thai visa advice group.

I doubt there’s a need to worry. If you got to the stage where they accepted the application (albeit with a home visit) then the chances of a denial are slim.
