Important Communication about Border Run in SATUN:
Every citizens re-entering Thailand crossing this border will be refused to get 30 days visa exempt stamp.
People with a legal one-year visa (Non Immigrant) who needs 90-days stamp, can regularly get it.
But, if your one year visa is expired, your tourist visa is expired, your 30 days visa exempt is expired, and you already got the 30 days extension at Samui Immigration, NOW YOU CAN NOT GET A 30-DAYS VISA EXEMPT STAMP AT SATUN BORDER.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent updates indicate that individuals crossing the Satun border into Thailand will no longer receive a 30-day visa exemption stamp unless they have a legal one-year (Non-Immigrant) visa. Expired tourist or visa exempt statuses limit re-entry options. Additionally, there is confusion regarding the specific borders affected and their rules, with questions arising about other nearby crossings and their statuses.
Thale Ban National Park is in Khuan Don District and the Thai Border Checkpoint there is named Wang Prachan... The Malaysian checkpoint on the other side is called Wang Kelian - just for information purposes.
The other fairly nearby Satun Border crossing is from the Tammalang Pier about 8 kilometers from Satun city center. From there one goes by ferry to and returns from the Kuan Jetty on Langkawi (island), Malaysia - checking in and out of Border Immigration Services. Trip time each way is about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
I don't have any information as to whether this method of entering Thailand or doing a border bounce falls under the same rules that have been described for Thale Ban National Park in Khuan Don District.
Clarification Marco... by Satun do you mean the one in Satun city or do you mean the one also in Satun Province at Thale Ban National Park. In my area of Krabi people are constantly confusing the two border checkpoints. I assume you mean Satun city (Muang Satun) but I wanted to be sure.
That border is mostly used by visarun agencies, carrying expats to get 90 days stamp (if have legal visa) or 30 days stamp (if don't have). Now this second category is no more allowed to get 30 days stamp.
I suppose this rule doesn't affect Malaysian Citizens.
Sorry, probably I didn't explain well: any expats living in Thailand who will cross the border in Satun, when re-enter in Thailand (Satun border) will be refused to get 30 days stamps.
If they have legal visa, no problem to get 90 days stamp.
, seems he already had a long tim in Thailand and I think he get refused and I hope it will be not a common rule. Satun is a very busy border crossing for the Malayian tourists.
