Can I leave Thailand on the same day after requesting a passport renewal without issues?

Ok this is kind of a strange question, I hope someone can help and I hope this is the right place to ask.

I need to renew one of my passports, and also do a visa run with the other. Traveling without the first should be fine, but the problem is I entered Thailand with the first, so I need to leave with it (my visa exemption is stamped into that one). I know you get to keep the passport after requesting a new one, and they only cancel it electronically at some point, so do you think flying out on the same day would be ok?

Again I hope that question makes sense, and I hope this is the right group to ask.
