I read recently that with the new 30 days visa free entry limit that there is a 2 visit per year limit. Is this the case?

I’ve been twice this year, once for 4 weeks and the other time for only 11 nights.

I’ve another trip booked in for November for 4 weeks.

Thanks for any info.
Answer summary
The current information suggests that while there is a limit on land border entries—specifically, two visa-exempt entries per calendar year for most countries—there is no formal limit on entries by air. Immigration officers have discretion over granting entry, and genuine tourists typically have no issues as long as they can show valid travel plans. It is recommended to have proof of funds (20,000 THB) and return tickets when entering. As policies can change, it's always best to check for the latest updates and to consider applying for a tourist visa for peace of mind.

Interesting would be one month in Thailand, one month in Vietnam, one month in Bali and one month in Malaysia and rotate that 3 months a year in each country!!

Don't think you'll have a problem at all but make sure you are carrying 20,000 baht (or equivalent in your currency). Although most people aren't aware of it, its an entry requirement and some immigration officers use it if they feel you've visited too often. There is no actual entry limit through airports but they can, and do, refuse entry but they must give a valid reason so they use the lack of cash.

my advice is ; use the right visa for the right reason then you will stay away from trouble. The reason they are cracking down visa's because visitors are cheating the system.

Keep in mind the second extension is always 7 days per calendar year

You have nothing to worry about if you are a genuine tourist. The immigration officers look at the person, at the travel history and if they are actually coming for a holiday. The whole picture has to make sense.

There is no limit on the number of entries - as long as you can give a good reason as to why. I know people that come several times a year and they don't have any problems, as they can explain why.

Thailand needs and wants real tourists. They are mostly cracking down on those abusing the rules.

John Bilous I can assure you, those days are far from over. They continue unabated for anyone paying attention. There is no limit of 2 per year.

And your last comment is just clueless. Immigration isn’t cracking down on immigration are they?

there is no 2 per year rule. There's a rule about entering through a land border using visa exempt 2 times per calendar year. That's the only rule.

There is no limit on the entry by air, only 2 additional border runs by land per year, but you can extend your stay 30 days at the immigration office in Thailand for 1900 Baht

The limit applies to visa exempt entries by land. There is no specified limit for visa exempt entries by air as before the changes. But every visa exempt entry, whether by land or air remains at the discretion of the immigration officer you stand in front of

Genuine tourists can come and go freely, its the people trying to max out visa exempts, doing border runs and the like.

Jo Clemente 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆 guess your a democrat 😆 🤣 😂 😹 I try and say it again without offending you, I'm not hold out much hope.

The Thai government at the beginning of 2025 outlined a series of areas that they wanted eliminate areas related to money laundering and the like.

Part of that process included looking at where the problems were coming from, one of those included people staying in Thailand with out a visa, many of these people were using border bounces just extend thier stay. Immigration are now very tightly controlling the borders.

They (Immigration) look at a travellers when arriving in Thailand, if someone is doing trips in and out, they may check to see if they have a ticket back home, accommodation booked and 20kthb cash. If so there good to go.

Have a nice evening 😊 ☺️ 🙂 😀
