Is proof of insurance required for the initial (30 day) extension for the TR60, at the Bangkok office? I have only seen insurance mentioned for longer-term visas.

TLDR : Answer Summary
No, proof of insurance is not required for the initial 30-day extension for the TR60 visa at the Bangkok office. Medical insurance is only mandated for long-term extensions, such as the one-year extension based on retirement from Non-OA or Non-OX visas.

The only two extension of stays that requires medical insurance is a one year extension of stay based on retirement from an entry on a Non-OA or Non-OX visas.
For other extension of stays, there are NO insurance requirements.
Tod, I discussed with you on PM previously. It's 5 years from date of visa issue as I understand. Apparently just show current year policy and still get 5 year stamp. It's not my stamp.
The STV and the extensions are such a mess that my advice is simply **ask the immigration office what their requirements are for that extension of stay**. Some require the same paperwork as a regular extension of stay based on tourism, and others require the same documents as the original visa.
Nobody knows what will happen with the STV in the future either.
