Do I need 30-day insurance if I extend my TR visa by 30 days?

Hi all, question about insurance:

If I get the 60 day TR visa and a matching 60 day insurance but I extend the extra 30 days on the TR visa, do I need to get another 30 day insurance to match? I don't want to pay for 90 day insurance if my 30 day extension gets denied

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community consensus indicates that if you are extending your 60-day Tourist (TR) visa by another 30 days, it is advisable to invest in 90-day insurance to cover the entire stay. Most users agree that extensions are unlikely to be denied unless there are serious issues, and having insurance ready aligns with requirements when applying for an extension. There are varied opinions on whether proof of insurance is strictly necessary for the extension, but to be safe, residents suggest securing the longer insurance policy.

You will not be denied the 30-day extension. It just does not happen, unless you have been a very bad boy, in which case you'd already be in IDC awaiting deportation!

Just get 90 days

You will need to prove insurance when you submit for extension

and you know this how exactly
@Ronald ****
? AFAIK no one has entered on a single entry tourist visa OR a 30 day visa exempt entry and gotten a 30 day extension from them yet

covid insurance is a must thing now to stay in thailand, so to apply extension,they sure will want you to proof purchase..

@Ronald ****
no, covid insurance ISN'T a must to STAY in thailand, it's a requirement to GET IN.

There's a difference and you have no first hand knowledge that they will ask for insurance from any of the new arrivals on tourist visas or visa exempt entries when they go to get a 30 day extension.

You're pulling this answer right out of your a** :(

covid insurance is a must for the entire period stay..u can contact thai embassy for confirmation and not being a smartass urself by buying a short term policy

The difference between paying for 90 days to 60 days would be very minimal to be complaining about

The extension is easily approved. I've never heard of a denial. Get the 90 day insurance.

Highly unlikely you will get denied a 30 day extension. Unless you plan on carrying out illegal activity
