UPDATE: for those in the same position, I can confirm that your landlord / Condo management does have to register a new TM30 in Chiang Mai.

Is Chiang Mai immigration one of the places that are strict on registering a new TM30 when you leave and re enter the country? I have to spend a few days outside Thailand to get my non B visa, and past posts on this group indicate that this requirement can vary depending on location.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation confirms that in Chiang Mai, the landlord or condo management is required to register a new TM30 when a tenant leaves and re-enters Thailand. Several comments from community members indicate that Chiang Mai immigration is generally strict about this requirement, with personal experiences affirming that a new TM30 was needed following a border hop for visa purposes.

Post your question in a Chiang Mai F/B group

Swing by the main immigration office by the airport or the satellite office in Central Festival Mall <-(which is always empty) and ask.
