Hi, me and my friend are from Australia currently in Bangkok on a visa exemption that we have extended for 30 days ( expires end of march) we plan to leave and come back but want to be able to stay for 3 months upon returning. How would we be able to get something like a multiple entry visa? Why can you only apply online in some countries? How long does it take? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently in Bangkok on an extended visa exemption and seeks to return to Thailand for three months. Comments suggest that a multi-entry tourist visa is not available outside their home country and advise visiting a Thai consulate in a nearby country to obtain a single-entry tourist visa. They also mention that there are alternative options for extending their stay, such as re-entering Thailand for a visa-exempt entry or applying for a tourist visa directly.

Initially this post was declined BUT I decided to answer it and close the thread.

remember people that you WANT to stay in thailand xxx amount of time doesn't mean there's an easy or viable way TO do that ๐Ÿ™‚

I wish good luck to the O/P (y)

The only way you're going to be able to leave/come back and stay for 3 month is if you GO to a thai consulate in a nearby country and BUY a single entry tourist visa from one of them ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

There is no multi-entry tourist visa available to you anywhere but your home country ๐Ÿ˜• and the thai consulates in nearby countries don't use online application process they are show up/apply consulates

The nearby consulates are

Vientiane/Savannakhet Lao

Singapore

Penang/Kota Bharu/Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Phnom Penh Cambodia

Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam

Jakarta Indonesia

Pick one,

go to the website,

READ the requirements for applying for a tourist visa,

read if you need to book an appt online to get in the gate,

read the processing time (2-3 business days usually)

go there,

get the tourist visa.

Then when you come in to thailand you'll get stamped in for 60 days, and you can extend that one time for 30 more at the immigration office

Otherwise you can just exit/re-enter the country to get a free 30 day visa exempt entry stamp (which aussie passport holders can do TWO times by land in a calendar year Jan 1 - Dec 31) and take a 30 day extension on that at the immigration office.

I know it's not the 3 months more you want but short of going to a thai consulate and getting a tourist visa that's the best you got
