Quick question, on converting to a Non-O based on Marriage or Support Thai Child is deposits of over 40,000 THB a month sufficient proof of the income requirement? Not working in Thailand so the funds come from other sources than employment.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry discusses whether monthly deposits of 40,000 THB into a Thai bank account can meet the financial requirements for converting to a Non-O visa based on marriage or supporting a Thai child. Responses indicate that while using foreign income for the visa is not explicitly prohibited, applicants may face challenges. Specific advice includes consulting local immigration offices and obtaining a notarized income verification letter from the embassy. Ultimately, the safer route is to maintain a bank balance of 400,000 THB.

Good to know that the deposit route is a safer solution. Thanks for sharing !

did you read the O/Ps statement? They WOULD NOT accept the monthly income by transfer without a letter from their embassy, and the US, UK and Australian embassies here do not issue that letter. <- That means you use banked money method.

yes exactly I meant the 400 k is better, in my case I asked the letter of income from the Swiss embassy, however they refused as they do it only for pensioner as they would have no means to verify passive income.

went to Nonthaburi Immigration they want either the 400,000 in the bank or if using income need an income letter showing how much you are receiving notarized by the embassy. Monthly deposits in the bank account are not sufficient.

that is pretty much right in line with what most offices do. Only a few will allow monthly income via transfers for marriage or supporting thai children, most seem to follow the bank 400K OR legally work in thailand with a salary of 40K baht a month

To be honest, while neither provision say you can't do it (use monthly income from abroad to meet the financial requirements for either an extension based on marriage or one based on raising a thai child) I have seen people be knocked back trying to use it and have to resort to the 400K baht banked money method.

You should go check with your immigration office and see what they say because ultimately they make the call on it

I'd hate for you to deposit 40K baht a month, each month, every month into a thai bank account in your name only for the previous 12 months only to have them say "cannot" ๐Ÿ˜ฎ and you be between a rock and a hard place trying to meet the financial requirements.

thatโ€™s what I thought. Will ask when we go there as I have all the records of 12 months depositing more than 40k a month into my account (way more) but if you read the paperwork it states otherwise. So like most things here the answer is it depends ๐Ÿ™‚

For sure I know.

they don't care in the least if it's way more ๐Ÿ˜ฎ, and in fact it cuts no ice with them,

They care if it's a BAHT less than the minimum per month even one time,
