Is a 90-day report required for obtaining a temporary residency certificate for a driver's license in Thailand?

Just been to immigration near DMK airport, filled out forms for temporary residency certificate for Car/Bike Licence, all done.

No need for 90 day report ( not a requirement to obtain the temp certificate )

Have appointment booked with department of transport in 3 weeks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user recently visited immigration near DMK airport to obtain a temporary residency certificate for their driver's license and noted that a 90-day report was not needed for this process. This statement generated some discussion, with one commenter expressing confusion as the 90-day report is typically required. Another clarified that the requirement may have been removed in Bangkok.

I think he means he didn't need to wait until he'd done the 90 day report to apply for the residence certificate. Bangkok removed that requirement a while back

so that sound very strange 🤷🏼‍♂️

I didn't need 90 day report last month when I applied for a residence certificate (for driving licence) at Chaeng Wattana on day 4 of visiting Thailand

they tell you that you don’t have to come back for a 90 days report later ??

Okej, in that case they maby do wrong in Udon Thani, but if it’s like that it’s just great 👍🏻

@Anders ******
you only do a 90 day report if you have spent 90 days in the country.

90 day report is to be done later, for 90 days stay in Thailand. I didn't need to show a 90 day report to apply for a residence certificate at Chaeng Wattana.

Strange, I have a stamp in passport that I can stay in the country to May 27, but got a note inside that I get from immigration when I was there just for the temporary recidence certificate to renew my driver license that says that I must do the 90 days report before March 3 🤷🏼‍♂️

And what I hear from all people here I speak with here it doesn’t matter what visa you have the 90 days report always is necessary 🤷🏼‍♂️

@Anders ******
you still have to due the 90 day report when it's due

okej then I understand wrong from beginning, I think he meen that he don’t have to do the report at all🤷🏼‍♂️

he's still required to file the 90 day report anytime that he has been in Thailand for 90 days.

The TM 30 is the address registration filing and different from the 90 day report.

that’s likely just a polite reminder to let you know when your 90 day report is due that’s all.

If you left the country on day 85 for example and then came back in you wouldn’t need to.

TM30 is required for the res cert ( no need for 90 day report ) this is a temp resident cert which lasts for 30 days , to then enable you to get your Thai Licence.

i don’t have a rental agreement so my G/F brought hers, and was asked to fill in a TM30 form as the officer said if it was done online and older than 7 days he would struggle to find it, so we just filled the form out which took a couple of mins to do.

I didn’t need any additional photos either and the whole process cost 400baht.

There is a copy shop downstairs with the other shops where you can get documents scanned and printed. Cost me around 20baht for them.
