TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they can enter Thailand on a Tourist Visa and subsequently conduct a visa run to apply for a DTV visa after being asked for additional documents for their initial application. They plan to fly to Thailand on Saturday and mention another user's upcoming interview request related to their visa situation.

It means you turn up in the Thai Embassy in the country you applied in and answer their queries.

Just keep things simple and straightforward. Get over these initial hurdles which are a minor irritation. Then yiu have a really good 5 year visa. Hope it all goes well.

-You technically need to stay put in the country where you applied until the visa is approved. Many get away with not doing this and just fly/enter. However, now that you have an interview, even if via phone, I would be very cautious doing this. If they ask you where you are and you inform them you have gone to Thailand, they will cancel your application. If you lie, that is very risky. What embassy did you apply via and when?

One of the requirements is you stay in the country where you apply until the visa application is processed completely.

well it says “apply at” which is a vague statement, because even without an interview, you would be classified as applying at that embassy (even if all online). -

The piss taking is just outrageous. You have people expecting visa turnaround in days as though Embassy staff owe them a living. You have people wanting to have a visa without fulfilling the requirements. Then others wanting it as cheap as possible. Even more thinking they can bend to rules to suit their holiday arrangements. Half of them are potless adding nothing to the economy in the spirit the visa was designed for. Many obviously working in country and not remotely FFS

took you a bit longer than I expected to vent, good on you. This sense of entitlement, impatience, and wanting instant gratification from many is annoying as fark, try waiting 8 months just for an appointment to apply for a US visa.

I am good at venting but it takes a while to blow. I am giggling now. My ex Thai staff vented and ex colleagues vented when this visa initiated. What they predicted is happening. I really hope it does not end in tears because it is a great visa for genuine people.
