How Long Can I Stay in Thailand After My Non-B Visa is Cancelled and Can I Apply for a Marriage Visa Before Cancellation?

Hi, I am an Australian on a non-imm B visa with a work permit located in Bangkok. My work contract will finish on 5 May. The company uses an agent for work related visa matters and Iโ€™ve been told he will arrange the cancellation of my visa and work permit around that date. I am married to a Thai and have the necessary funds in the bank to apply for a marriage visa, which I have to arrange myself. My questions:

1. How long does immigration allow you to remain before you have to leave Thailand once your B visa is cancelled? I was told 14 days?

2. Can I start the process of applying for a marriage visa before the B is cancelled, or do I have to wait until after 5 May then apply?

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat with a Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit in Bangkok is seeking guidance on the timeframe for staying in Thailand post-cancellation of their visa and the possibility of applying for a marriage visa before cancellation. Comments discuss the cancellation process and clarify that one can begin applying for a marriage visa immediately after the B visa cancellation.

Now we're getting somewhere

I see you use Cham Churi Square's one stop service center as your immigration office.

When you cancel an extension based on employment at Cham Churi they give between 7 and 21 days.

you need to follow the post I put where i said you didn't have a Non-B VISA

cancel this extension and immediately apply for one based on marriage to a thai

that is NOT a visa that is a re-entry permit which means you DO have an extension

So look in your passport for a stamp that says "EXTENSION OF STAY PERMITTED UNTIL xxx with a date

you most likely don't have a Non-B visa and I believe you have an extension of stay.

you cancel the extension based on employment and immediately apply for a new extension based on marriage to a thai.

Even a visa agent can not cancel your visa.

So to continue what is inside your passport?

Are you in Thailand during the 90 days you got on entry after you bought a new Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa?

Or did you go with your employer/agency to the Immigration Office and got a big stamp with in line two Extension of Stay permitted up to ../../..?
