I have a non B visa which ends early November, my long-term gf and I will marry in September, my question is do I need to leave the country (I've lived here for 5 years, last exit was Feb) to apply for the marriage visa?

Or can I apply before November here in bkk?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user currently holds a Non-B visa expiring in November and plans to marry in September. He inquires about the necessity of leaving Thailand to apply for a marriage visa or if adjustments can be made while still residing in Bangkok. The community discusses whether he can switch his extension of stay from employment to marriage without leaving the country, with confirmation that he can apply for a new extension 30 days before the expiration of his current status.

@Ma**
, lets get this straightened out.

You do NOT have a valid Non-B visa anymore.

You haven't for several years now because it is long ago expired.

What you did was get a Non-B visa at one time, then you got yearly extensions of stays based on employment at the immigration office for 1900baht.

That is why people are asking if you are on the original Non-B visa or on extensions. You are definitely on an extension of stay and CAN change the reason for your extension from working to marriage..

@Ma**
, that you did ;)

Right understand now i was undervtbe impresion you had a straight NON B. As you have an extension then robert is correct you can apply to change status 30 days before your permission to stay ends Apologies for miss reading

My non B was issued in Penang, Aug 2015, since then it has been extended in Thailand
Robert *******
NO, Extension of Stay is based on the Admitted to stay stamp not on the Visa. In this case the extension is given with reason working. His visa is stamped used and is not valid anymore.
Ian ********
Is it an extension of stay or a straight NON B visa ?
Ian ********
Anyway if you say so op i would pop into immigration and ask that way you will know for sure

No, my non B valid until November 2nd, and wp
Ian ********
But his extensions have been based on working from his now expired NON B
Robert *******
YES, I'm sure, from Extension Of Stay to a new Extension Of Stay. He does not have a valid Non Immigrant B visa.
Ian ********
From a non b? Are you sure
Robert *******
He is in country on an Extension Of Stay based on working, one month before end date he can apply for a new Extension Of Stay based on marriage. No need for a new Visa and every 90 days a border run.

You cant get a visa in country. Non o multi can be got easily in Savanakhet showing no funds two day turnaround 5k fee. If you have a NON B im pretty sure trying to exchange the extension to a based on marriage is going to be a night mare. My opinion nip out for a couple of days to Savanakhet. You can get 5 months in country before border hop by extending by 60 day at immigration based on visiting wife. Work it right and get 17 months out of visa

This not about wp, I only need to know about the visa,

Why not just stick with re extending non B. This year will give you time to dort out things if you want to change over to Non O

Dear Tod, yes, my non B is an extension, 1st issued Aug 2015, last year was a renewal.

Finances are not an issue, and as I said we will marry in Sept, and then I plan to apply for the marriage visa, it would just be easier if I didn't have to do a visa run.
Ian ********
Marriage non o multi or an extension based on marriage
Tod *********
If you are you can change the reason for your extension from employment to married to a thai, you'd need to meet the financial criteria for the marriage extension and have the documentation required but it can be done

I am guessing you're on an extension of stay based on employment that you got from the immigration office for 1900baht right?
