Hi everyone

If you're on a non-immigrant 1 year visa (retirement) with multiple entries.

Q. How long can you exit Thailand for?

Q. If for example, you had to return to your home country (Australia) for family reasons for a while (6 months), providing you fly back to Thailand for your 90-day reporting is this, OK?

Q. In example above does this change if you need to do your I year application again during this period?

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the rules for non-immigrant retirement visas in Thailand, particularly concerning how long one can exit the country without jeopardizing visa status. It emphasizes that while there are no mandatory stay durations for maintaining a retirement visa, it is crucial to return in time for the required one-year visa extension application and to temporarily suspend the 90-day reporting requirement while outside Thailand.

The key for my retirement visa is to make sure I am back in Thailand to do my extension. Mine expires in jan so I will be sure to come back in December to start the process of my next extension.

Are we talking about a retirement visa? Is there more than one type of retirement visa??

In general there’s no requirement of mandatory time or days in Thailand to maintain a permission to stay as long as you’re back in time to apply for a new extension and the 90 days report is just suspended while you’re out of Thailand. This is for yearly extensions of stay with re-entry permits, -not the initial one year visa.

1) Can't answer without knowing what you are actually on. Are you on a non-OA multiple entry visa? Are you on a 1-year retirement extension with multiple re-entry permit?

2) A 90 day report is for reporting you are in Thailand for 90 consecutive days. If you aren't in Thailand obviously don't do a 90 day report.

3) Still impossible to answer without knowing the answer to #1
