TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a multi-entry tourist visa from the UK, it is generally recommended to submit your application no more than 60 days before your travel date. Most users report that applying 2-3 weeks in advance works well, with processing times ranging from 5 to 14 days. It's important to check the specific requirements on the Thai embassy's website, and be mindful that you may need proof of return flights and accommodation.

A METV is valid for 6 months from issue. In order to get the most mileage from it you want to apply as close as possible to your travel dates. Reports from the UK seem to suggest 5-10 days max for issuing as long as you provide all the required documentation.

Be aware that they will often require proof that you need the multiple entry by having pre booked flights in to Thailand twice. Some reports from people who didn’t and were issued a single entry and not refunded the cost difference.

What documents would you need for this visa?

@Sophie *****
proof of flights (to Thailand - anywhere outside of Thailand witihin max 60 days from your arrival and to Thailand again) propf of accomodation and proof of address in UK.Thats it

Go to your home country online application site. All required docs are listed.

I always apply one month before I fly. Usually arrives a week to 10 days after submitting the application.

I have applied yesterday.they have changed the requirements and not asking for bank Statement or letter from employer anymore.Make sure you have return flight from Thailand not more than 60 days and upload another flight to Thailand just in case they give you single entry

Paul, I made the mistake of applying too early and it only took 2 weeks to arrive. The clock starts ticking as soon as they issue it so I lost a month by applying too early. I will not apply more than 2-3 weeks before I travel next time.

Just got mine 10 working days

Thinknits 3 months I'm sure I've read somewhere....I could stand corrected
Brandon ************
@John ******
that's for single entry. Multiple Entry would lose half the visa if you apply that early

I'm a US citizen, got my multi-entry granted in 14 days - and this time included that they requested some additional documents after 7 days. I promptly responded and within a few days the Visa was issued. Obviously we're in different countries so your mileage may vary.

Ok, good to know.

@Nate **********
was it a simple process?
Nate ***********
@Linhoff ********
yes, very simple. Just be sure to include all the docunents they ask for. Have your flight and your first night of hotel - you can book on agoda - pay later, then cancel after the visa is granted.

@Nate **********
thanks Nate. Do they require a round trip flight?

If you don't have your return ticket to your home country, go to a website called onwardticket and for $10 you can buy a fake ticket that shows you are leaving Thailand after 60 days.

@Nate **********
the E-visa system does not accept fake onward tickets. If you apply with those, you will be refused the multi entry and get a single entry instead, and your money will not be reimbursed

@Nate **********
dont have to be to your home country.it have to be anywhere outside of Thailand
Nate ***********
@Norbert *********
yes, that's correct - leaving Thailand.

I showed them a round trip ticket but I'm not sure if a round trip ticket is required. I don't think so because you have 60 days per stay on the multiple entry Visa.

No more than 60 days prior
