Hi - I am British and am applying for a multi entry tourist visa from the UK and am also looking at booking my return flight home. How long is this visa valid for - is is 6 months from when I receive the visa or longer than this? I am trying to book my flight within the visa expiry date. Also, does anyone know how quickly the embassy issues visa - days or a few weeks? Again this effects my flight date. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A British applicant inquired about the validity duration of a multi-entry tourist visa from the UK, specifically whether it is valid for 6 months from the date of receipt or longer. Responses clarified that the visa is valid for 6 months from the date of issue, allowing multiple entries with a 60-day stay on each entry. Additionally, it was mentioned that a one-time extension of 30 days is possible. The embassy's processing time for the visa may vary, with some reporting quicker issuance at certain consulates.

How long is this visa valid for - is is 6 months from when I receive the visa or longer than this? The Visa is valid for entry up to 6 months from date of issue. As a multiple entry, you will receive a 60 day permission to stay upon each entry within the validity period. Thus, if you enter the day before the Visa expires (Enter by date on Visa), you will still get a 60 day permission to stay. While in Thailand on each of those entries, you can apply for a one time extension of 30 days, which is added to the original 60 day permission to stay.

6 months but you can get 9 months out of it. As long as you return to Thailand just before the end of the 6 month visa you will get stamped in for 60 days and can extend that for 30 days giving you nearly 9 months

We have had two from the Hull consulate back to back. It was just easier as they issue it there and then. You can email all your documents in advance and within 24hrs they reply to say yes all in order. Their criteria is a return or onward flight within 8 months. You don’t have to show a flight out after 60 or 90 days. Although a 170 mile trip each way it was worth it. A few of my friends have had a nightmare with the London online system.

Within 8 months? Is that a mistake?

6 months from the day they put the visa sticker in your passport. You'll get 9 months out of it if you plan your entries right

We flew Finnair and our return flight was after the expiry date of the visa, no problems.

if you get an METV you need to book a flight out within the 90 day period (60 days from visa and 30 day extension at the embassy) you will need to leave the country at least once to get 6 months from your visa. If you want to stay for 9 you will be leaving the country twice. Malaysia by air or by anywhere by land is the easiest.

some airlines won't let you board if you do that so best off checking what their policy is.

Is it ok if I book a flight at 9 months instead of 6 or will that look odd?
