TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about applying for a Thai visa earlier than the standard 4 weeks before departure to avoid delays experienced previously. Responses indicated that applying 2-2.5 months in advance is advisable for single entry visas, as they are valid for 90 days upon issuance, allowing for greater flexibility without losing days of the permitted stay.

that's probably why his visa was delayed. The embassy couldn't figure out what month was the 13th month.

There is no such thing as a 90 visa

and you don't lose a single day of the stay permit you receive upon entry, when you apply 2 months earlier. The visa will give you a 90 days stay permit upon each entry within the visa validity period. Only with 1-year or 6-months multi entry visa, one should try to get them issued as close to the planned entry date, as you will lose the days between the issue of the visa and the entry date

Most single entry visas are valid to enter Thailand for 90 days from the day they are issued by the embassy. You should be able to safely apply for a visa when your trip is 2-2.5 months away
