TLDR : Answer Summary
You should apply for a TR Visa from the UK a couple of weeks in advance, as this should suffice for processing. The visa will be valid for entry for 90 days from the issue date, and upon arrival, you'll receive a 60-day stamp.

if you’re planning to marry soon then its possibly best to get the TR. that will give you 90 days (60+30). If married within that time then you apply for a Non O visa in country (2,000 baht). Then when that’s winding down you apply for the year extension of stay. You need at least 400k Thai baht in a bank on your name only. For the initial Non O there is no need for seasoning the money, but for the year extension of stay it would need to be in the bank for 2 months prior. Many offices will require that amount to stay in the bank during the 30 days “under consideration” period. Once you have the year extension you can spend all of it, but it would have to be back up to 400k two months prior to your next application.
in this case I'm trying to get married asap. My gf it's finding out what paperwork we need and the timing. Avoiding true pain in the ass process... you know what I mean
I'm not against vaccine but I lost 2 friends(heart problems apparently ) just after they've done it so at the moment I'm not to keen on doing it. Apparently if you are not vaccinated you need to apply for TR Visa is that correct? Are you from uk? Where about?
not correct. You can enter with no vaccination, but you need to do 10 days quarantine in an approved hotel. You can’t leave your hotel room during that time, as opposed to the sandbox type schemes where you wait for the test result and can roam the sandbox area.
coming from UK (assuming you have UK passport) you don’t need a visa if visiting for less than 30 days (actually 60 because you can get an extension in country). Depends on how long you want to stay because a TR will give you 60 days and you can also get a 30 day extension off that.
italian passport but I have permanent residency. I've been living in UK for 20 years. Do you suggest me not to do the visa. I want to stay in Thailand for a while. So maybe just get there and then contact an agency. I plan to get married. Just built a house in isaan...
Italians can enter visa exempt too. I can’t really say whether it’s better to get a visa or not. Costs to buy one versus getting an extension in country is about the same. Once you’re married then you’ve got a few longer term options, like the 60 day visit family extension and the 1 year extension based on being married to a Thai. But you need to be married for those.
