How does your border run and extension history affect your eligibility for a Thai DTV?

I see a lot of people saying your border run and extension history on tourist visas will either impact getting a DTV or can create problems once you already have it- how extensive of a history do you think causes those problems?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation focuses on the concern regarding how a history of border runs and visa extensions might affect the application process for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. While some users express worries about potential negative impacts from frequent border runs or visa exemptions, others argue that such a history has not hindered their own visa applications. Anecdotes suggest that being outside of Thailand for certain periods may have played a role in successful applications, while some participants advocate that using proper visas is preferred and that past travel history does not necessarily influence current visa processes.

People talk a lot of stupid things. Your travel history will have no impact in the visa process and it’s usage.

I did multiple visa runs on exemption. Extensions. TR visa… ED visa… i was even in the process of a second ED when the DTV came out and i got it instead. all of that without a break…

Anonymer Teilnehmer i have not seen a single post about a DTV holder beeing denied entry or questioned or even detained. please show me a source that proofs your claim.

i see many people that get problems with doing visa/border runs with visa exemption, etc… has nothing to do with the DTV!!!

In the last 23 months I have 3 visa exempt entry’s. 2 entry’s with multi entry tourist visa. 1 entry on single entry tourist visa. 1 entry on dtv. Not in order. i haven’t had any issues, used border runs for every entry except my first one and 1 other one.

I wouldn't listen to that crowd. Thailand wants people using visas as opposed to endless visa exempt and extensions.

For everyone who want make border run in 2025. My advice is go to Ranong take long tail boat to Burma for 2500-2800 depends of how many poeple. I just did and was cool adventure. I was alone on boat so cost 2800. No questions asked, funny guide picked me guy from port in Burma( famous Michel) . You can buy there cheap cigarettes. Very clean place, next time I want stay there longer. If someone want number direct for guy who making this I can share.

That wasn’t my experience. I had been doing border runs for 20 months went back to America for a few months before applying and got approved. I guess one could argue that those 2-3 months outside of Thailand could make a difference.
