What are the implications of the new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) for frequent travelers in 2025?

A few thoughts: while well intentioned and all, I am getting annoyed at the ridiculous, fear mongering speculation that holders of this visa somehow won't be afforded the privilege of making continuous in-out trips every 6 months as expressed in articles like this and Integrity Legal's videos.

After all, it's a 5 year multiple entry visa. That's how it has been designed and remote work is specifically allowed.

Not only that, but as holders of 1 year non-O and non-B multiple entry visas (both past and present) such as myself can attest to - continuous residence in the country doing border runs (in this case every 90 days) is most certainly allowed and no questions have ever been raised about this.

The only thing you might be asked to do at a small number of borders is stay out for a night or two. Ranong might ask for 20000 Baht when coming back in but if you gently remind them of what visa you're on this is often "forgotten". The issue at that border is, they mostly see Russians and westerners living in Phuket or Samui on visa exempt stamps doing regular border runs, so when an individual with a visa comes along that doesn't fit this mold, officials don't know what to do.

As I travel for business and pleasure outside of the country on average once every 60 days, I never ever have any questions asked and am always granted essentially automatic re-entry and I expect this to continue on the DTV.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the potential implications for holders of the new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) slated for 2025. Some expats express concern over speculation that DTV holders may not be permitted to make continuous in-out trips every 6 months. The original message argues that this fear is unfounded since the DTV is designed as a 5-year multiple entry visa that allows remote work. Other comments support this view, sharing personal experiences of successful border runs on similar visas without issues. The conversation also touches on perceived fear mongering by critics of the DTV.

I've been on non-O and non-B visas for years and I'm talking about the multiple entry versions here for the most part. I have been on a BOI non-B extension and non-O extensions as well, but the latter was during Covid only.

Like I said, I haven't had any real issues crossing borders on multiple entry visas regularly. Even Aranyaprathet worked out for me, though I used the car entry lane, as I was driving back and perhaps that's why no questions were asked. However, I think even Aranyaprathet is OK with multiple entry visas.

When I leave the country on business or for personal reasons, it's usually for 3-7 days, max. 10 days if it's in the region.

When I travel home to see family or to other countries further afield, it's usually for 10-21 days.

Never an issue coming back in and getting a fresh 90 day stamp.

Thus I don't think it will be on these visas either.

The DTV is taking a lot of business away from this Ben fella. Hence his fear mongering.

Yes, probably. Now that Ben is starting to dabble in alternative facts, watching his videos is starting to become a turnoff. The only good ones are his analysis of Thailand pandering to the WEF agenda.

100%! Ben is now claiming that the DTV can't be extended in country! Where does he get that idea from?

people on other visas just envious of the DTV

Yeah I agree. I've been watching Ben's (Integrity Legal) YT videos for a while now, an on the DTV he goes off the reservation a bit.

Yeah and it's clear he has no real clue what happens when you travel in/out of Thailand on a multiple entry visa.

He mentioned the whole "have to stay outside of Thailand for at least 1 night" thing, but that appears to be applied ONLY to Chiang Khong, not Thailand as a whole.

While I almost always spend multiple days outside of Thailand, on the occasions I've done a day return trip (usually to Myanmar, before Covid that is) it was because those borders only allowed me to spend one day there without a visa.
