TLDR : Answer Summary
To cancel your work permit and visa extension in Thailand, you will need to gather specific documents from your employer, including a letter stating your last day of employment. Additionally, the Ministry of Labour may require further documents such as a copy of the Thai company registry, a power of attorney, and a specific form provided by them. It's essential to cancel your work permit first before applying for a new visa using documents from your school, as you cannot apply for a new visa at a Thai consulate until after these processes are completed.

Updatr on this: i came to the ministry of labour and apparently i need many more documents apart from a letter from the employer. I need the thai company registry, a power of attorney and a specific form provided by the ministry.

After cancelling both, and with the documents from school i should be able.to apply at a thai consulate, right?

that's between you, the school and the thai consulate you're applying at, It has nothing to do with the correct way to cancel an extension and work permit INSIDE the country

No, you can not apply for a new visa at a Thai consulate with a letter that you stop working inside Thailand. First you cancel your Work Permit than your Extension of Stay based on working leave the country and than you can apply with documents from your school, copies passport etc for a new visa to come back into Thailand.

i see, thanks. with this letter of cancellation i can apply for Ed visa, right? this is what the school told md

Does not have to be notarized, only a company stamp and signature. It will be cancelled on your last day of working mentioned in the letter, your Extension of Stay will get a new end date, the last day of you working and that is the day you have to leave Thailand.

does it need to be notarized of have any special stamp? Also, if i cancel it tomorrow, as well as the visa, will the last day will be valid still? ie my last day is may 31st, how much time will i have to leave thailand after that?

a Letter from your employer stating the last day of your employment.
