Hi everyone! After traveling on my savings, I’m now in the process of starting my own business. I’ve been researching the DTV for several months and would like to apply for the digital nomad visa. However, I’m unsure of the earliest time I can apply, since I’m not currently earning any income (I’ve been working on my product for a few months, but it hasn’t been commercialized yet).

I’ve searched through DTV groups looking for similar experiences but haven’t found any that match my situation. I understand the embassy ultimately has the final say, but I’d really appreciate any advice on the minimum income requirements, how many months of proof of income might be necessary, etc.

For additional context, I already meet the requirement of showing over 500k THB in capital. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for Thailand's Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) while currently not earning income from their startup. They have over 500k THB in capital but are unsure about the income requirements and the timeline for application. Responses indicate that there isn't a strict income requirement, but having a valid business entity with clients might be necessary. Additionally, the application experience might vary by embassy.

Depends on which Embassy you apply at, as most with DTV.

So read the website of the Embassy you choose.

NOT 🚫 a chance to get the DTV visa with a startup business as a digital nomad.

There is no income requirement, but they will want to see a valid entity, if you haven't any clients or portfolio or contracts, kiss your 10k goodbye. Get your business up and running and come back in 3-6 months.

Yes, I completely understand that, I was just wondering if having clients an income for a few months (eg 3 months) would be enough or if they are expecting a more consistent income history

you could include a cover letter to explain your business is new and supply 3-6 months worth of documents and invoices etc. what they want to see is financial stability/independence.

they asked to see my 2023 company tax return, even though I supplied 6 month statements from 2 accounts with well over 500k baht, so I highly doubt 2-3 months will be enough proof of a successful business in their eyes.

Find another reason to get the DTV visa. Your startup nomad is not yet valid proof.

I'm aware of that, as I'm not in a rush, I'm trying to understand when it'll be a valid proof for DTV digital nomad. Otherwise, I'm aware I could do soft power but I'd prefer not to if possible 👍

6 months to a year. With a work portfolio, receipts for income earned flowed thru the year

Read the posts about getting the DTV visa for workcation from MANY forum members. And pay special attention to the Thai Embassy or Consulate where others obtained the DTV visa.
