TLDR : Answer Summary
After arriving in Bangkok with a 60-day visa but being stamped in for only 30 days, the recommended course of action is to visit the Immigration Office to have the error corrected. While returning to the airport is one option, local immigration offices may also assist. It's important to ensure the visa number is noted on the TM-6 Arrival/Departure Card next time and to double-check the stamp before leaving the immigration area.

, face it you're far from the first foreigner to not check their entry stamp and get stamped in wrong. :O

Go to the closest immigration office and get it corrected, the sooner the better.

It's totally free..

Just visit the Immigration Office, in Bangkok they even have a special desk for people who do not check their passport stamps. Yes, you're not the only one, Immigration Officers are human and make mistakes like the rest of us.

Yes. If an immigration office is closer you could go there but likely they will advise you to return to the airport to have it corrected.

Out of curiosity did you remember to put your visa number on your TM-6 Arrival/Departure Card? You should do that. I also accidentally fold over the passport page that contains the visa when I give the IO my passport which makes them curious as to why the page is folded over and helps bring their attention to the fact that you have a visa rather than are just requesting a 30-day visa exempt entry.

Also, when you get your passport back from the immigration officer take a few seconds to make sure you have received the proper permission to stay before you move away from the entry point.

many years ago, in Bangkok airport immugration i have the same problem. But i go in ko samui immigration and thay make correction.

If close to the Airport go there, I believe there is an immigration office on the outside. However if you have gone upcountry already, go to your closest office. My friend had a similar then happened and we went to Mukdahan, the closest office. They made a few phone calls and eventually figured it out.

Good point I had assumed there was an immigration office that could be accessed before going air-side, but I don't know if that's true or not.

How will you access airport immigration without a plane ticket? Go to your local immigration office.

I've never had to correct such a mistake probably due to luck but maybe in part by doing the things I mentioned. I can't say John's advice to go to local immigration is wrong, because I've no personal experience with this. I do have general experience with bureaucracy and if it's possible to fob you off by telling you to go someplace else that's often what happens. I think you're safer going back to the airport (the place where the error occurred), but I can't know that for sure. Good luck!

Local immigration will sort

@Steve ******
, The ONLY time a local immigration office won't sort out a bad stamp is if you forget to stamp in totally.

There were cases of people who entered by a land border but just walked past passport control without getting stamped in.

In their cases they HAD to go back to the border they should have stamped in at to get the stamp corrected.

I have never ever heard of someone with a wrong stamp (especially from flying in) have to go back to the airport they landed at and get the stamp corrected.

@John *******
Sorry but Steve Grier is correct. The immigration information office at Swampy can sort it out and you don't need to go airside to do this.
John ********
Then we will have to disagree
Steve *******
John Feeney Oh dear! The fact that some Imm offices will advise you to return to your of point entry maybe shit advise in your mind, the fact is that it's correct advice
John ********
Your advise was shite
Steve *******
@John *******
And your point is?
John ********
@Steve ******
I'm talking about the airport!! Which as you stated would be his point of entry.
Steve *******
John Feeney Im pretty sure you can access immigration without leaving the country, there are many Immigration offices within the country
John ********
@Steve ******
as stated below, I don't think you can access immigration without leaving the country. I could be wrong.
Steve *******
@John *******
some will, but some will advise you to return to your point of entry
