TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen residing in Ireland seeks proof of income for a Non-O visa based on retirement but faces challenges as neither the UK nor Irish embassy can provide the necessary letter. Suggestions from the community include obtaining a certificate from the pension provider, translating it into Thai, and notarizing it. A member also advised that the British Embassy could assist since the pension is paid into an Irish bank account. Additionally, personal experiences highlighted the process and documentation needed for successful visa application.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. The consulate for Phuket is away until the end of October, so I contacted UK Embassy in Bangkok explained that Irish embassy couldn't help. Spoke with a really helpful lady who said as a UK citizen they should be able to help. Sent all documentation off and have fingers crossed.

Get a certificate from the institute that is paying your pension. Then get that translated into Thai and notarised by a Thai lawyer. That should do it. I did this for my dad in Chiang Mai. No problem. We did not need any paperwork from any embassy.

As a UK passport holder, an affidavit or pension letter (Call it whatever you like) from the Embassy isn't enough for immigration. You also need documentation from your pension provider stating the dates and pension figures each month.

Exactly right. Just done.

That is correct! They will then issue a letter stating that they have seen the relevant documents. No further proof is required by Phuket immigration. They (immigration) will convert the stated GB sterling to Thai baht at the lowest rate possible. In my case I use a combination of pensions income + money in the bank for 3 months.

Ray Derrick you cannot just go to the UK Embassy and state you get x amount of pension. You need documentation from your pension provider.

Since when? I have recently got a letter from the UK Embassy stating that I have pensions totalling X GBP per year. This is valid 6mths. It was acceptable by immigration for my last extension.

Thanks for replying. My pension is paid into an Irish bank account. So an affadavit from Irish Embassy?
Steve *******
Mary Hanson If you go the 'monthly income' route then you need it verified by your Embassy, ie the affadavit of income and some Imm offices also require proof of payments into your bank to confirm the affadavit

no haven't tried them. Will give them a call tomorrow. Are they in Rawai?
Ray *********
Have you tried the Irish consulate in Chalong? They provided a verification of income letter for my friend who has a UK passport. The letter was accepted by Phuket immigration.

Or easier I understand immigration is accepting payment documentation into foreign accounts. Just print out your account information. If you get monthly deposits that should be sufficient.

ok. Thanks for the information

Marilyn Robinson No, not unless you hold an Irish passport. Just get your pension paid into a UK bank account.

You should be able to get the affadavit from the British Embassy if your pension is paid into a UK bank account.
