How can I renew my OA (retirement) Visa in Thailand if my embassy no longer provides a pension affidavit?

I am a UK national, preparing my documents for the first renewal of my OA (retirement) Visa. I am here on the basis of adequate monthly income. The form asks for an embassy letter showing my pension, but my embassy no longer provides that service. Has anyone else renewed lately on the same basis? How did they get over the problem? Just in case there are regional variations in practice, I am renewing at the Jomtien office.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK national is seeking advice on renewing their OA (retirement) Visa in Thailand at the Jomtien office, specifically facing challenges since their embassy no longer issues letters verifying pension income. Community members suggest showing proof of at least 65,000 baht deposited monthly into a Thai bank account from abroad instead of the embassy letter. They emphasize checking with the immigration office for specific requirements as policies might be lenient during this transition.

Most people who knew they would need a new yearly extension at the beginning of this year got an affidavit of income from abroad notary from their consulate BEFORE they stopped issuing them at the end of this last year :O That's because those letters are good for 6 months so you could use it if you had one.

Unfortunately because you didn't get one IF you want to use monthly income you need to start transferring in 65K baht a month from abroad into your thai bank account.

This year on the switch from the notary letters to the monthly transfers they're supposed to be "lenient" as far as you not having to show a full years worth of monthly incoming transfers, but no one knows what the requirements really are.

Stop by your immigration office and check with them to see how to proceed.

IF your consulate no longer provides the affidavit of income from abroad letter then you show international money transfers from abroad into your thai bank account of at least 65K baht a month and use the proof for the monthly income method.

what's in the name. Actually you visited Thailand on a Tourist visa, get that converted to the Non Immigrant O visa, applied for the 1 Year Extension of Stay and now you like to apply for a new 1 year Extension of Stay. This is not a Non Immigrant O-A visa, but we understood what you like to do.

@Li **********
and what would the reason be for you to apply for a yearly extension?

Hi Robert Lagas,

May i know how many years can we apply for 1 year extension of stay?

Is there a maximum number?

Given we meet all criterias.

@Robert ******
Exactly...

Did you get your O-A in your home country?
James ********
With planning...the O-A will give you up to two years retirement in Thailand. Just prior to its end just return to home country and repeat.
James ********
If you get the O-A in your home country...No need to open or deposit any money in a Thai bank. Keep your money in your home country.

If your Embassy stopped with this income affidavit you can show a monthly deposit of minimum 65.000 Thb coming in from abroad for the last 12 months on your Thai Bank account

I had learned that it appears that almost everywhere else still accepts, for 6 months, the income affidavit without need for any other financial docs, but in old chiang mai, they still wanted all the stuff, making it a waste of time and money for me to have gotten the income affidavit.

I just did mine, and I had one of the last income affidavit letters the US Consulate issued in late December 2018, and was to still be good for the next 6 months---, well cmi still wanted many months back of bank statements, a letter ftom y bank (Tod had posted a nice example in case ur bank is clueless as to what immigration wants), and copies of, along with viewing my updated bank book.
