Hello,

I have 3 questions concerning marriage. My Thai girlfriend and I decided to get married.

1/ The French Embassy asks of course for a full copy of my birth certificate. To ask my birth town hall, so in France. Or I'm currently living in Thailand with my roommate. So can't go get her By the way, I don't think municipalities are sending documents abroad, which would cost a lot in postage fees...

By the way, the embassy doesn't want photocopies...

What to do?

2/ The embassy also demands proof of my divorce. Unfortunately, after a process of several years, my divorce by mutual consent was only filed before a notary on February 12, 2024 So no mention of my birth certificate. However, I have the PDF of the divorce agreement with the signatures of the notary, 2 attorneys and my ex-wife. But, again, it is a PDF, so digital. Is it acceptable?

3/ If I can't get married during this stay, it's rather boring but we'll have to adjust well...

My final question for my next trip in a few months would be: between the time we submit the complete application at the embassy in Bangkok and the time we are officially married at the town hall of our home in Thailand, how many weeks do we need to count? Figured out the 10 days after the bans have been published the longest. In all, ... ???

Thank you in advance for coming back.

Bonjour,

Merci d'avance pour votre retour.
Answer summary
The user inquired about the necessary documents required by the French Embassy to marry their Thai girlfriend, including a full copy of their birth certificate and proof of divorce. They faced challenges in obtaining these documents while living in Thailand and were concerned about the embassy's requirements for physical documents instead of digital copies. Additionally, they sought clarification on the timeline for the marriage application process and how long it takes from submitting documents at the embassy to being officially married in Thailand.

Je me trompe ?

Same questions but in English now. Sorry, I totally forgot this morning I should have written in English...

"Good morning,
