In the everything else category.

So I have bought a sola powered CCTV camera and it is remote so no access to WiFi.

Can you get a pay as you go data only SIM card.

I’m with true and the signal is great where it would be placed and can get 5g. True want to sign me up for another number at 600baht a month and I know that’s for data calls and txts.

If I use that much a month I would pay it but that seems a lot for data.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about obtaining a pay-as-you-go data-only SIM card for a solar-powered CCTV camera without Wi-Fi access in Thailand. Several comments suggest that options like unlimited data SIMs and affordable plans through platforms like Shopee and Lazada are available, which could be more cost-effective than True's offer. Users recommend checking for specific plans suitable for IoT devices, with some sharing personal experiences of successfully using data SIMs for their cameras.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be tdac.in.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

Just get any sim card, i use DTAC and download the app, there are loads of payg bundles to choose from.

I used an older phone with a sim card that was no longer usable, turned my phone into a hotspot, and connected both my monitor (an older tablet) and wireless camera to that network. (The phone needed a sim card to create a hotspot, even though it had no internet access). An app on the tablet linked the camera and monitor together. My old phone really acted as a router. Unless you need to view your camera remotely, something like that might work for you.

You need IoT contract. (Internet of Things).

I got this from AIS for my motorbike tracker. It's only data and cost 600THB a year.

Buy your SIM through Lazada. About 2000baht a year for 100 gigs a month. Both ais and true do it. I ran 8 camera's off 1 SIM and never ran out of data

We got a sim card for our solar camera from true and was 1150 baht for a year data only

Unless your camera is 5G or 4G enabled and takes a SIM card (most don't), then it will only work via WiFi.

most solar outdoor cameras take sim cards now. We just installed ours 4 months ago and had a good look at all options

I use cards from this shop many years... never any problem. They are also on Shopee... you have to check for promotions.

do they only run for a year ?

@Paul *******
Yes, this packages are valid for one year after the card is activated. After that it's like a normal prepaid sim, you can top up voice and/or data. Just not for the same prices... that's the problem. I use one card just for data as my second sim and buy a new one every year. Normally you have many month before you must activate these cards, so when you see a promotion you can buy it some month before you need it. For the net I would recommend DTAC... good coverage everywhere, good app and also good customer service.

@Paul *******
no. You can just fill up and keep it going. If the package dies, you just choose another package that suits your needs. Easy.

You can get an unlimited data SIM on Shopee or Lazada for much less.
