Hi everyone, I am a Malaysian and plan to ride my own bike (Malaysian registered) and enter Thailand from Sadao border crossing. I understand that Malaysian registered vehicles are allowed a 30 days entry into Thailand and likewise for individuals from ASEAN member states a 30 day visa-free entry into Thailand. I plan to tour Thailand for 2 to 3 months and thus the question arises, how can I get the vehicle entry pass to longer than 30 days? Also for myself how can i extend the standard 30 days pass entry in my passport to a longer duration? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Malaysian planning to ride their own bike into Thailand from the Sadao border seeks advice on extending the 30-day vehicle entry and visa duration for a tour lasting 2 to 3 months. Suggested options include contacting the Thai Transport Department for a vehicle extension permit, obtaining a Tourist Visa at a Thai embassy that can be extended for an additional 30 days, and considering border runs for visa exemptions. The conversation also mentions potential fines for overstaying the vehicle's import permit.
There are ways to extend the 'temporary import permit' with LTA. However, most decide to pay the fine of maximal ?.000 THB at exit. I know of a Swiss who drive his Gold Wing into Thailand before COVID and stored it at a friend's place, only to drive it out (to Malaysia) in October 2023. He paid the maximum fine of ?,000 THB and was over the border in 30 minutes. Not that I recommend it to do it that way, but that is what many are doing. I'm really not sure how much the maximum fine is but I remember 1,000THB per month up to maximum 5,000 THB.
The former question I don't know but the latter, you get a Tourist Visa from a Thai embassy which can be extended by 30 days giving you a total of 90 days or you can do border runs, enter under Visa Exempt and extend by 30 giving you a total of 60 days and if you decide you want longer, exit and re-enter the country for a fresh exemption stamp which can also be extended.
