I was unable to get an extension of stay at Phetchaburi immigration because my hotel said they only issue [whatever that address proof is called!] to people staying one week or longer. Is this normal in Thailand? Is there an immigration office where it's easier? I'm Canadian on a 30 day visa exemption, expiring Dec 23. PS I've used up my two visa exempt land entries for 2018. I'm hesitant to fly out and back in after hearing about people getting refused.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user experienced difficulties obtaining a visa extension at the Phetchaburi immigration office due to hotel regulations regarding proof of address. Other users shared their experiences, suggesting that some hotels incorrectly refuse to provide address proof and that immigration offices in Bangkok or Jomtien may be more lenient. Instructions were offered for filing a TM.30 either through the hotel or by the individual online, as well as advice to obtain proof of address for the extension process.
Or ask the old woman a copy of her ID card front and back and a copy of her blue housebook, let her sign both documents, go to Immigration ask for the TM30 form, register your address and than apply for the Extension of Stay.
The Immigration office is, what I think. looking for this piece of paper with your address registered in their system and stamped by them. But I wish you luck with a 1 night stay receipt from a hotel.
Or slog back to Bangkok and get your extension, they don't require a TM.30 for any extension of stay.
OR
slog on over to Jomtien and check into a hotel there to get your extension, they let you use the receipt of the hotel and a business card so you can get your extension.
, obviously that's NOT the ONLY hotel in Nakhon Nowhere Phetchaburi :O Go check in to another hotel, have them register you in the online TM.30 system, take a screen shot of it, go get your extension. :O
