Advice from Thailand embassy London is book 11 days quarantine hotel but if you have had 2 coronavirus jabs you may be given 7 days quarantine at the discretion of the immigration officer! What! How can you book your hotel on this basis? Leads to the question does anyone know of any hotel in Bangkok or Pattaya where you can pay at hotel? Also for those in the know what's the cheapest insurance package coverage available right now? Thanks for any advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the challenge of booking an Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) hotel in Thailand, given the uncertainty about staying for 7 or 11 days based on COVID-19 vaccination status. It highlights the requirement to prepay for an ASQ hotel in order to obtain a Certificate of Entry (CoE) and the potential for hotel refunds if only 7 days are needed. Participants share suggestions on finding hotels, insurance recommendations, and the current travel restrictions from the UK.

When I arrived at bkk airport on Wednesday it appeared to me that qualified vaccinated people got their 7 day stamp

Unfortunately travel from the UK is illegal unless to repatriate or medical reasons otherwise you could be refused leave or be fined

You can also leave legally for work and family reasons.

1. Vaccines: my understanding is that vaccines have to fall within the window of 14-30 days to the travel date. Find it hard to coordinate and too much of a headache to hang on to this option.

2. Even if you're qualified, most ASQ hotels require 11 nights booking(not days, yes, it's strange the way they calculate the quarantine period). If everything goes well, they'll refund the unused nights on your check out day. Their explanation is that there are too many uncertainties, so this is how it is.

3. I googled "ASQ agoda", then put in 7 nights. There were a couple of hotels available. There are a lot more available hotels when I put in 11 nights.

4. Cheap insurance: I found Luma past to be the cheapest and easiest obtain. Embassy approved it.

Above is my personal experience. Since I determined to come to Thailand with safety as a priority, I didn't hang on to 7 vs 10 days quarantine nor how they count 10 days quarantine.

***Agoda offers some free cancellation and pay later option. But please note, any changes in n flight and ASQ hotel booking, you have to update COE immediately before the flight.

Vaccines must have been administered no less than14 days prior to Entry
Steve *******
14 days since your 2nd vaccine. Nothing to do with 30 days.

@Steve ******
Yes, Steve is right. Sorry, I meant 3 months. My vaccines were more than 3 months. Therefore I am not qualified for 7 days quarantine.

@Teri ****
Again NOTHING to do with 3 months. You must have been vaccinated at least 14 days before arriving in Thailand to qualify for 7 days quarantine

so really it's just a token gesture.. NO ONE in the world at the mo can get a vaccine to order....

@Steve ******
yes, correct. Hence has to travel between day14th to day 30th post 2nd vaccine in order to be qualified for 7 days quarantine.

another option you might consider is to wait until no more quarantine, October'ish. Less hassle. It was quite an arduous process that I broke down crying when my COE was approved. In hindsight, it would have been more enjoyable to wait. Best wishes.

I think you have to show you've paid for ASQ to get the CoE, and get a refund from the hotel if you only do 7 days. Search the posts on here for good/cheap insurance to enter Thailand.
