I am a fully vaccinated person, and I'm looking for a cheaper option to stay in Thailand. I'll stay for 5 days and leave the country on the 5th day so i don't need to book a SHA++ hotel on the 5th day, right?

And, what is the difference between SHA++ hotel vs ASQ hotel?

Which one would be much cheaper for me?

TLDR : Answer Summary
This discussion revolves around the options for staying in Thailand for a vaccinated traveler with plans to leave after 5 days. It clarifies that if you leave the country on the 5th day, you may not need to book a hotel for the extra night, based on certain guidelines. The conversation also contrasts SHA++ and ASQ hotels, with SHA++ being hotels that partner directly with hospitals for testing and quarantine, while ASQ involves any approved quarantine facility. Users advise on costs associated with both hotel types and share their experiences regarding necessary insurance and testing while traveling.

If you show flight on day 5 or before it should be fine according to the FAQ.

All new TEST & GO applications must submit A proof of prepayment for 2 separate nights of accommodation at government-approved hotel/s, such as, SHA Extra Plus (SHA++), AQ, OQ, or AHQ on Day 1 and Day 5, and the expenses for 2 RT-PCR tests on Day 1 and Day 5. The prepayment for Day 1 must include an accommodation, a test and a prearranged transfer from the airport to the hotel.

Travellers can book 2 different hotels for the accommodation on Day 1 and Day 5. However, on both Day 1 and Day 5, they must stay within the room for the RT-PCR test result.

A SHA ++ hotel mean this hotel has a private hospital agreement for both test and quarantine

@Brian *******
you don't need 2nd booking if you leave before or on day 5.

I'm not sure you can even get a Thailand pass without booking the 5th day quarantine. You need the Thailand pass to even board the plane

I came and payed around 1k bath for sha++. You can even find cheaper. Just use the agoda quarantine page, I even found places around 5-600 bath. In December tho

@Joakim *******
you have to buy the package, room test transport from hotel.

No way you get that for under 1000 baht. Test alone is 2500 to 3500 baht

but I'm not 100% updated on the new test and go. So I would reccomend calling your closest thai embassy just to confirm what I said.

My embassy was providing several links. The first ones was expensive, almost like Europe prices. Then there was cheaper ones on the other links.

I was given this link in december from my embassy page. I think all you need is a sha+ plus hotell. And upload that confirmation in you thaipass application. Agoda is safe, I use it all the time :)

You will most likely need an antigen test done for your flight home, that will run you 900 baht. So your not really skipping out on taking a second test. Now if you use the 5th day SHA hotel's test as your departure test, say leave on day 7 or 8 then the SHA hotel is really 900 baht cheaper and gives you a few extra days on the ground.

My husband and I just done with our Test & Go day 1. The cheapest options now cost around 6-7k thb per person for Test & Go day 1 and day 5 scheme. If you are staying for just a night you should be able to find option around 4-5K thb. Ofc, there will be risks & more cost if u r tested positive tho.

The difference between Sha+ and Sha++ is that Sha++ is the Sha+ hotel with direct collaboration with hospital. They need to send hospital staff to test you. Upon arrival, we were taken to hospital directly to get tested before checking in at hotel. If negative, my hotel guarantee results after 8-12 hours and we r free to go.

Suggest you take a look at new insurance rules ,if you test positive and you do not have certain symptoms then you have to pay all costs of isolation yourself. Strongly suggest now is not an opportune time for financially challenged people to consider International travel.

I have a budget of 35k thb. Is it enough?
Danny ********
@Nishant ***********
enough for 1 night in hospital...yes

@Nishant ***********
suggest you look for yourself, I am not a travel agent nor do I know your lifestyle. For example I have no idea of what your airfare would be ,it would cost minimum of 2500 THB per night for a reasonable hotel room only .If you test positive you could be up for 100,000 THB .Insurance is compulsory but does not cover Covid unless you have severe symptoms. Suggest you look up everything to see what costs are involved.

@J *****************
some insurance doesnt cover. Some do I think

This may only give you 3 full days in Thailand. Not worth the costs and risk of quarantine if test positive on arrival.
Albert ********
Why bother going.
Dean ********
I remember it says on the website where you apply for travel pass that if your stay is shorter than 5 days you don't need to book the 5th night in the Sha extra hotel.
Bruce *****
No just book what you think and get on the plane happy travels
Bobby ********
That really does not make sense. You are leaving the country after day five? Why bother coming?

Just for a short visit and i can't afford to book ASQ/SHA++ hotel twice.

@Nishant ***********
Can’t afford? Maybe another vacation closer to home would be a better choice
Nishant ************

@Braulio ********
yes, i would have easily afford it without the need to book SHA++ hotel.

@Nishant ***********
You need the booking for day 1 and 5 you can go to another hotel between and after this. Shop around.

If you can’t afford this how are you going to afford a longer stay. Thailand is not a cheap places especially in Phuket.
Nishant ************

@Yvonne ********
I'd prefer bangkok and pattaya over phuket.
Yvonne *********
@Nishant ***********
there must be cheap Sha+ hotels in Bangkok for your first test and night and SHA+ hotels in Pattaya for day 5 2nd test and night
Lynnette *******
@Nishant ***********
what about if testing positive and requiring hospital or hotel quarantine? Can you afford that?
Bobby ********
Lynnette Munoz. I'm stinking rich so yeah, I could easily afford the very best. But that's not what I'm asking. I was simply surprised that someone would want to go through all the Thailand Pass crap for three days. But hey! It's each to their own
Nishant ************

@Lynnette ******
maybe no, i really hope that this need to book ASQ/SHA++ hotel would change soon.

you get tested on day 1. If positive even if no symptoms, you need funds to cover the hospital or hotel quarantine.
