New changes new questions - is Vietnam/HCMC asking everyone now for their previous passport pages and if so, why would this be? Specifically for people with remote jobs not soft route

1) did you show a Thai bank account with the funds

Or

2) were there Thai transactions on your bank statement?

Current situation - here 2 years on an ED visa, if anyone has the same experience please let me know as I’m about to apply from there soon

Thank you 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about new immigration requirements in Vietnam, specifically regarding whether HCMC is asking for previous passport pages from individuals applying for a visa with remote jobs. They mentioned their current situation of being on an ED visa in Thailand for two years and sought confirmation from others who might have experienced similar requirements. Comments suggest that providing evidence of a legitimate ED visa or having a Thai bank account is beneficial but not necessarily a strict requirement. There is speculation that these requests may not be linked to stricter immigration controls.

Please let us know if you still decide to apply at HCMC and what the result is

I will do - I'm going there early next month, God knows what rules will be in place by then but my flight is booked near two weeks already.

Tbh I don’t think it’s a measure being used to stop people getting the DTV, there nothing in guidelines talking about previous stays….at least not yet anyway

I wouldn’t worry, probably just asking for it for the sake of asking

Are you really aware of the guidelines the case workers in the embassies use to process applications?

You make us all curious...

Lol for the sake of asking 😃 seems quite common here - but yeah, you're right. I'll take a chance on it! 🙂 Cheer

There is no detriment to showing you have been in Thailand on a legit ED, or have an active Thai bank account.

so it should be fine to show all past visas? My question is though, for those who have been working remotely on an ED visa and then apply for the DTV, could they reject on that basis? Thai bank account isn’t the bank account with 500k+ funds in

*disclaimer - this question is for educational and entertainment purposes only 😅

how are they going to know where your money comes from? They are looking for 500k or proof that you are self sufficient. If you are/were in Thailand on an ED or tourist visa and working online for an entity outside Thailand it's a non issue. If on the other hand the deposits were coming from a Thai company, well, you'd better hope they don't notice that.

as long as you can prove funds of 500k+ instantly accessible it shouldn’t matter it’s not in your Thai bank
