LTR visa question - applying from US.. BOI is asking for health insurance coverage for a year, even though I’ve submitted last 12 brokerage statements showing $100k in money market account. They want to see that amount in bank account. Has anyone faced similar situation?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the requirements for obtaining an LTR visa while applying from the US, specifically the need for health insurance and proof of funds. A user shares their experience of the BOI requesting health insurance for a year in addition to showing $100,000 in a bank account; however, they submitted statements from a money market account instead. Responses include advice on the importance of providing what is requested, the necessity of insurance, and suggestions to contact the BOI directly for clarification. Another user decides to purchase AXA EasyCare health insurance to meet the requirements.

Thanks everyone. I’m just going to get AXA EasyCare health insurance l. Got the quote for $196/ yr. And let my money make more money. Not worth the hassle. 😊

Unfortunately, even though it’s a money market account, because it’s held by a brokerage. It looks like an investment and that doesn’t count. It’s the same issue I have but frankly I intended to get insurance anyway seems a bit shortsighted to run the risk of an extremely high hospital bill.

Well, did you directly contact and speak with someone at the LTR Visa (BOI) Office about your particular circumstances?

Or, perhaps in addition to speaking directly with someone, also write a letter explaining you would like to elect for the "Savings Deposit" option for Insurance Requirements???

I had to prove evidence of insurance prior to arriving to Thailand , as part of their approval requirements

I am not clear on your other question. Assuming you are meeting the income of 80 k USD during the past two years as required for the threshold for approval then not need to provide additional information. If lower amount but higher than 40usd then additional documentation is required

However you are best to contact BOI through their email for clarification

Needs to be held as a bank deposit of $100,000 for 12 months as stated in the LTR requirements.

It is very simple, you give them what they ask for.
