TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, the 400,000 baht for the multi-entry Non-O visa must be seasoned in a Thai bank account in your name for at least two months before you apply. If the funds do not meet this requirement, you would only be eligible for a single-entry 90-day visa.

Hope this isn't going off topic then, but is there any point in going to savvanhaket then for the 12 month extension.

@Phil *****
you only get the 12 month extension at the immigration office INSIDE thailand.

I think you're asking why people would go to Savannakhet to get a year-long multi-entry Non-O VISA from there when the requirements are the same for a year extension in country.

Some people work rotational work and can't be in country the amount of time it takes to burn down a 90 day Non-O visa to where you can apply for the year extension, then wait the 30 days under consideration period, then go back to get the stamps inked in. It's easier for them to bounce in and out on a year long multi-entry visa with 90 day stamps

Thanks for that info. ๐Ÿ‘

it does indeed, it needs to be in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage otherwise they only sell you a single-entry 90 day one

I see they are saying 3 months in your bank acc for 1 year extension is that correct ?
Tod *********
@Durrant *******
nope, the seasoning requirements for an in country yearly extension based on marriage to a thai using banked money method are 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension

@Tod ********
so is 1 year extension different to renewing marriage visa ( non immigrant O ) 4. Renewing: When renewing your Thai Non-Immigrant O Marriage Visa, you must have the necessary funds cleared in your Thai bank account at least three months before your renewal application.

@Durrant *******
dunno where you're getting that info but it is NOT correct. ๐Ÿ™

First you can't renew anything in thailand, not a visa, not an extension. you MIGHT apply for a new extension when yours runs down, BUT you're not renewing it, you're applying for a brand new year extension.

the seasoning for banked money method for an extension based on marriage is 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply.

I believed it to be 2 months too as in all my other years but my Thai wife tells me its changed to 3 months and her information come from Immigration in our province.

@Durrant *******
both she and the immigration office are not correct ๐Ÿ˜• ,

it has NOT changed but some offices try to convince you it has.

It's exactly as I said it is, you bank the funds a minimum of 2 months before you apply for the extension
