TLDR : Answer Summary
When you renew or extend your Non-B visa in Thailand, the 90-day reporting period may reset or remain the same depending on whether you received a new 90-day report receipt. If you received a new receipt with a new date, your reporting period is reset. If not, you must report according to the date on your previous documentation.

here's how you tell IF your 90 day resets when you get an extension of stay from the immigration office

Ask yourself the question;

Did I get a NEW 90 day report receipt telling me when my next 90 day report is?

IF the answer to that is yes, then immigrations reset your 90 day reporting

IF the answer is no and you didn't get a new 90 day report receipt then the immigrations did NOT reset your 90 day reporting and you report on the date on the paper you have in your passport now.

You did not renew your visa or even applied for a new visa at a Thai Consulate. You visited your local Immigration Office and applied for an 1 year Extension of Stay based on working inside Thailand.

Depending on Immigration Office, some try to give some extra service, they do directly a 90 day inside Thailand report, this to match your 90 day reports with your application of Extension, so you save 1 or 2 visits to the Immigration Office. If you got a new paper with a new date from Immigration that is the date you have to report.

normally I do the 90-day report on the same day when I am also doing the yearly extension. However it is pure coincidence that both dates match: I enter Thailand on October 2 and leave Thailand in mid-March . . my Extension is due on January 4th. I go to Immigration on December

and apply for Extension, Single Re-entry Permit and the 90-Day report all on the very same day . .I have been doing this for the past 14 years, no probs so far

not really sure want you meant, because my previous visa was bound to expire dec 24, 2019 and now it is dec 19, 2020, so this means I still need to file 90 days report which is Dec 24,2019 based on the paper

if you had a non b visa (as in a sticker in your passport) and this is your first extension to that visa then immigration will register that your initial extension date is now day 1, so the 90 days resets. If however it’s an extension to an extension (a stamp in your passport rather than a sticker) then the 90 consecutive day count continues as it did before.

uhmm, not in the last 90 days, so this means I still need to file 90 days report this week, even though my visa was extended for another year just last week?

My understanding is that you have to file a 90 day report for every 90 consecutive days you're in Thailand. Did you leave Thailand within the last 90 days?

You didn’t renew a visa. You got an extension of stay based on employment. Was this your first extension? If so the 90 days resets to day 1 that day. If it’s an extension of an extension then the 90 days stays as was.
