Does an annual extension reset my 90-day reporting schedule in Thailand?

Hello, does getting an annual extension reset the schedule for 90-day reporting in the same way that exiting and re-entering the country does?

If my visa was due to expire on the 25th, and I got a one-year extension on the 23rd, do I still have to file a 90-day report that would have been due on the 24th, or should I start counting 90 days again from the 23rd (extension date)?

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day reporting schedule does not reset automatically upon receiving an annual extension. It remains separate, meaning if your 90-day report was due before your extension date, you are still required to file it as scheduled. Only if a new 90-day reporting receipt is issued at the time of the extension would it indicate a reset of the reporting schedule.

I extended my non-o ret in Pattaya last week. They did not treat that as a 90 day report which did not reset the date.

I didn’t care because running down to S’Pore next week = will reset my clock!

Mick Mckee In smaller provinces like that, extensions and 90 day reports might be handled by the same section in the same office by the same person.

In Bangkok, as Tod mentioned in another comment, extensions and 90 day reports are handled by two separate sections within the same office.

So, for me, the section that handles my extension couldn't give a hoot about what's going on with my 90-day report, and apparently can't even be bothered pointing this out to the applicant.

, absolutely, I was only giving my personal experience which might be of interest to the people in Huahin

There separate … you could get your annual extension and the following week your 90 day may be due .

90 day reports are separate from extensions. But it is strange that your IO did not do your 90 day report after they gave you a new extension.

, that's a bangkok stamp no one from a one room up country immigration office. The 90 day report room is totally a different area from where you get your extensions,

, a couple of years ago, I got the 90 day report with my extension in Bangkok. I was surprised, and it didn't happen the following year.

Here's a fool proof way to answer your question.

Ask yourself; When I got my year extension inked in did the officer GIVE me a new 90 day report receipt with a new date on it?

IF that answer is YES, you did get a new 90 day report receipt then they did reset the 90 days when you got your extension.

However

IF that answer is NO, you did NOT get a new 90 day report receipt then they did not reset the 90 days and it's due when it's due.

It would appear from your stamps that they DID NOT reset the 90 day reporting because you still have the receipt showing a due date of July 24th yet you applied for your extension on the 23rd..

You need to go file a 90 day report in person (seeing as today is the due date) and you have until the 31st to do it without a 2000baht failure to file fine. .

thanks,

Not sure why I thought applying for an annual extension which requires a TM30 and proof of address would essentially count as a 90-day report which requires the exact same documentation.

Guess I'm heading back to immigration. 🙄

Thanks again for the info 🙏
