Hi Robert and others. Can you tell me if I leave and return to Thailand during my 90 day report period, does the 90 days start upon my return. Does my re entry into Thailand constitute reporting to immigration? Thanks in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When leaving Thailand, your 90-day reporting requirement does not reset upon re-entry. If you leave the country before your 90 days are up, your next reporting date will be 89 days from your return date. Additionally, upon re-entering Thailand, it is important to check in at the immigration office within 24 hours to update your address and departure card.
Depending on the enforcement of your Immigration Office. Best is to visit them and ask to avoid a fine when needed and not done.

What if the address you return to in Thailand is the same when you left? In other words my wife's house is where I stay

The way 90 day reporting works is
IF you are in the country on the 90th day you are obligated to report.
IF you leave the country BEFORE the 90th day your next 90 day report is due 89 days from the date you re-enter and stamp back into the country.

no your re-entry to the country does NOT constitute reporting to the immigration office

What that means is
IF the immigration office you use requires a TM.30 form (or that you update it) you need to do that at the immigration office within 24 hours of you getting back to your residence in thailand
