For showing proof of funds - does it matter if it's a joint account with two names? (Someone told me that for a retirement visa, that means you'd have to prove double the amount)...
If I'm applying for soft power DTV, and I have a joint checking account with my father which shows a balance of a little over 500K, will that be adequate?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A joint bank account can complicate proof of funds for visa applications in Thailand. For a retirement visa or DTV visa, the total funds available in a joint account may be divided among the account holders when calculating the required amount. For example, if two people are on a joint account, they might need to show a combined minimum of 1,000,000 THB instead of just meeting a 500,000 THB requirement individually. It is advisable to provide a sponsorship letter from the other account holder, along with the visa application, to clarify the situation.
