TLDR : Answer Summary
After obtaining a retirement visa in Thailand, it's important to maintain the specified 800,000 baht in your bank account. Immigration offices have different procedures for verifying this requirement after your visa is granted. Some may issue a paper with a future date asking you to update your bank book, while others may simply review your bank book during the next renewal or extension application. It's crucial to ensure that the funds remain above 400,000 baht at all times, as failing to meet these financial requirements can affect your renewal approval.

Chris...BEWARE...

Its YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to meet the financial requirements all year long.

Read the Police Order..

Have 800,000 Thai baht in bank two months before and three months after you obtain your one year extension...

DO NOT ALLOW THE BALANCE TO FALL BELOW 400,000 Thai baht at ANY time.

Your RENEWAL APPROVAL is SUBJECT to you MEETING the REQUIREMENTS. And will be seen by Thai Immigration when you seek an added one year extension of stay.

So my question to you is When you got your extension did you get a paper with a date on it telling you to update your bank book and show back up in 3 months? Like this?

if you did NOT get that it means you do NOT go back and show your bank book in 3 months and instead they will look at your bank balance NEXT year when you apply for a new extension to see if you met the terms of the extension :)

IF you use banked money to meet the proof of funds for an extension based on being over 50 (retirement) you need it in the account for 2 months BEFORE you apply for the extension

NOW as far as how does the immigration office know you kept the 800K baht in the account for 3 months AFTER you got your extension?

Some offices give you a paper with a date on it dated 3 months out and say update your bank book and come back on this date.

Some don't and instead tell you that they will look at the bank book next year when you apply to see if you met the requirements as far as how long the money was in the account.

It's totally up to the immigration office you use for your extension.
