TLDR : Answer Summary
The necessity of a Thai Pass for transit through Phuket airport largely depends on your flight arrangements. If you have a connecting flight booked as a single product with a single airline, you potentially won't need the Thai Pass. However, if flights are booked independently, you may need to collect baggage, clear customs, and thus require a new Thailand Pass along with Test and Go or Sandbox protocols. Always ensure you have the correct documentation for your travels.
Bangkok, Singapore.. Same thing everywhere now. If connecting flights are not booked as a single product from a single airliner's website, you won't be able to collect your luggage. You are unlikely to be able to start the journey if you don't have proper documents for your first destination. Using aggregated reservation services to make a transit is risky right now.
It would have to be a ticket booked through. Sounds like you're booking flights independently so would be required to collect baggage and clear customs so a new Thailand pass and test and go would be required I believe
Which airline are you flying with? If one of the middle East airlines then you may be able to change your flight to their hub direct from Colombo rather than passing through Phuket again
Heading from where to where? Domestic connection? General speaking you will need to do either test n go or sandbox. Test n go can do just one night then travel elsewhere.
international flight. We are currently in Thailand now with a flight out from Phuket to the UK in May 10th. We want to visit Sri Lanka and fly back into Phuket May 10th to get our flight back to the UK. We wouldn’t leave the airport. We are trying to figure out if we will still need Thai pass and health insurance if we don’t plan to exit the airport
as long as you remain in transit and your luggage will be checked through to London on same ticket, is possible. If you need to do a self-transfer (ie checkin luggage on a new flight) then need new TP, insurance, PCR test/hotel etc.
