Under the Thailand pass requirements, is it admissible to fly into Phuket if transiting via Bangkok (on an international flight). My itinerary is Montréal -> Zurich -> Bangkok -> Phuket (all on save ticket).
I was under the understanding that this was ok under the Phuket Sandbox scheme (7 days), but I'm reading online that its not allowed for the 1 night "test and go". Does anyone have info on that?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Travelers cannot transit through Bangkok to Phuket under the current Thailand Pass requirements. To enter Phuket, a direct flight is necessary, or they can complete the Test and Go program in Bangkok followed by traveling to Phuket after the mandatory one-night stay.
I have the same itinerary in december and I decided to have the bkk-hkt segment cancelled (so my luggage doesn't end up in phuket) while we need the mandatory 1 day test&go.
Ill be spending a week in bangkok before flying again to phuket since its only 20-50$ cad one way and far less expensive than cancelling and rebooking direct flights to hkt
Expedia offered me to update the bkk to hkt for another date, but that change would have cost me 1000$, which was beyond ridiculous for a domestic flight. After insisting they were able to cancel that part without refund and no extra charge.
Currently no. That may change in the near future. If you are wanting to go to Phuket you must fly directly. Alternatively you can do the test and go in Bangkok, stay one night and then travel on to Phuket the following day.
it would seem so. I have seen reports of some people saying it took longer for the results but even then they were 12 or so hours so a flight the following afternoon should be fine. Landing that early in the morning may have some issues with your hotel, that I’d confirm they will allow you to check in, and that the test is available. I assume the testing is available 24 hours but I have no personal experience.
: Thank you for the confirmation. I think that I will spend my first night in Bangkok and then continue onward to Phuket (where my hotel is already booked for 7 days). Hopefully the PCR test will come back early the next day so that I can catch an earlier flight into Phuket.
: Thanks Stuart. I guess I will have to update my travel plans. From your response, I understand that this constraint (must fly directly into Phuket) applies even in the case of the Sandbox scheme (i.e., 7 days). Is my understanding correct?
