Hi all, planning to transit through Thailand to get to Canada and won't leave the airport but don't have booking through one airline. Do I need the Thai pass? Can I get one if I am not booked at a hotel?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for a Thai Pass during transit depends on whether you will go through immigration or not. If you have to claim and recheck your bags, you will need to go through immigration and, consequently, will require a Thai Pass, which necessitates hotel information that you wouldn't have if you're not booked anywhere. However, if your bags are checked through to your final destination (Canada) and you do not cross passport control, you may not need a Thai Pass.

Pre-Covid, I transferred to a connecting flight on a different airline without leaving the Airport. I didn't need to collect my bags as it was the same booking.

I was worried about this the whole trip. But, yes, my bags were transferred to the new airline and they made it to the destination.

I am totally baffled about Traveling during the Pandemic so I am not giving advice. But I don't see why it shouldn't be the same.

You are connecting to a flight to Canada. You are not staying in Thailand, right?

Then as long as it is the same booking, it -should- be fine.

If you booked yourself seperately on two airlines, I don't think they would know where to transfer the luggage too.

Well having cancelled four trips to Krabi from UK via Singapore I hope it's all sorted by May 🙄🥴

I’m still struggling to understand this requirement. I’m doing a flight Uk to Krabi. The whole route is with Thai Air with a change at Bangkok. 3 hours. I presume I don’t actually collect my suitcase because it’s all one reservation with the connecting flight to Krabi. But Krabi don’t do test and go as far as I know?

If you have to re claim your bags then you will have entered Thailand and you will either have to do test and go, sandbox or 10 days quarantine.

You can't transit if it's not a connecting flight.

If you need to claim and recheck your bags in Bangkok you have to go through immigration, which will be difficult for you cause you will need the Pass but Pass requires hotel info that you obvi won’t have. Idk, seems like an easy thing to explain in person, but it will be very annoying. If your bags are checked through to your final destination you are fine.

Wish we could pin a post telling people to stop booking two separate tickets. The price is not worth the hassle…
