Do I need a second Thailand Pass for a separate flight from Siem Reap back to Bangkok?

Hi everyone, I have a question I haven't been able to find an answer to elsewhere. I am planning a trip from the US to Thailand and Cambodia in March. I'm planning for it to start in Thailand for 2.5 weeks and then go over to Cambodia for a week. The best flight back to the U.S. I found is from BKK > DC, but I would need to book a separate ticket to get from Siem Reap back to Bangkok. Is it feasible to do this without applying for a second Thai Pass just to transit? Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the need for a Thailand Pass when flying from Siem Reap back to Bangkok on a separate ticket. Comments reveal that separate tickets require going through immigration in Thailand, thus necessitating a new Thailand Pass and complying with entry guidelines such as a PCR test.

Thanks everyone for your recommendations! I think we're going to book a straight ticket from REP to Singapore then onward back to the US.

fly back via Seoul, not sure who you are flying over on , but if you fly DL/Korean to BKK, then return via Cambodia phnom penh

You'll have to get a new Thailand Pass to enter Thailand. There's no other option if you are doing a self transit. That means you must go through immigration, which means you must meet ALL entry guidelines. You will need a Thailand Pass and a PCR test in Cambodia for you to enter Thailand. You will have to go to an SHA+ Hotel and get a PCR test at the hotel. If that comes back negative you can then return to the airport and get on your flight to the US.

If it's a separate ticket it is not transit as you would have to check in in bkk...

Transit doesn’t need Thai pass.

They are not in transit with separate tickets. They need a pass to enter and collect bags and then bookin on next flight.

. Is that the case even if we are booked on two separate tickets with two different airlines? Do you know if we need to pass through immigration to check in for our Emirates flight back to the US?

As a rule, regardless of country or covid restrictions, if you have separate tickets (and are therefore not a transit passenger!) you will have to pass through immigration, pick up your bags, and meet any requirements at the check in desk for your next flight (including covid entry requirements - often meaning having to get a new PCR test). The airline in Cambodia is *very* unlikely to let you a board flight to Thailand without a Thai Pass if your onward flight isn't booked on the same itinerary.

For some countries if you leave and return within a specified period of time (e.g., a week), you don't need to meet the same covid entry requirements, but not sure if that is the case with thailand, and not sure if that is relevant to your situation.
