Advice/share of experience from anyone with experience of having a baby in the uk to a Thai father whilst unmarried would be gratefully received.
Thai embassy uk wants a FCDO certified paternity test for a birth certificate here. The embassy said that it is much easier to get the birth certificate here in the uk than Thailand. Anyone any experience of doing it in Thailand and what's involved?
The embassy said that he would need to enter on an non o visa and would need a DNA test in Thailand too, or we need to marry or just wait until he's seven...
His father is really disappointed that he doesn't have Thai nationality. We were going off the information on the embassy website which just says 'one Thai parent' and took all the correct documents only to be told that that one Thai parent has to be female.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A Thai father, unmarried to the British mother, seeks advice on the process of obtaining Thai nationality for their child born in the UK. The Thai embassy in the UK requires an FCDO certified paternity test for the birth certificate and asserted that obtaining the birth certificate in the UK is easier than in Thailand. The embassy indicated the need for the father to enter on a non-O visa and to conduct a DNA test in Thailand. The father is disappointed as he was informed that a child with one Thai parent could qualify for Thai nationality, only to find out that according to the embassy, the Thai parent must be the mother.
