Will I have problems at the airport with an invalid visa in my old passport and a new passport upon leaving Thailand?

Maybe it qualifies for Thai Visa Advice. My old passport with my ed visa is valid until summer. A new passport is ready for me at the embassy in Bangkok. Unfortunately, when I pick up the new passport, they will stamp the old passport which contains the visa invalid. Will there be any problems for me at the airport with the immigration when I want to leave a couple of days later, showing the old invalid passport and my new passport. I don't want to travel 800 km one way back to the local immigration office and the next day back to Bangkok just to fly out.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about potential issues they might face at the airport when leaving Thailand if they have an invalid visa in their old passport and a new passport ready from the embassy. The discussion includes the protocol for transferring visa stamps from an old passport to a new one and the uncertainties involved in showing both passports during departure.

According the website of the German Embassy the new passport can be obtained in Chang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket or Bangkok. Why do you have to travel 800 KM to any of these places?

I see the problem of extra travel. Let's hope the Thai Immigration officers understand that the German Government is not willing to use EMS service or locate an Embassy close to your home.

Located pretty close to the Malaysian border. Distance to Phuket is around 400 kilometer one way. You still need a lot of time just for going back and fourth.

In theory, you're supposed to take the new passport and the old passport (that has your current "extension of stay" <- (which is not a visa) in it to the immigration office where you got the extension and get the stamps moved to the new passport.

That your embassy cancels your old passprot doesn't mean the extensions and re-entry permits in it are void, just that they need to be MOVED to the new passport

To be completely honest I have no idea what happens if you have a valid extension/re-entry permit in an old passport after renewing and are leaving the country BEFORE you can get the stamps moved to the new one ๐Ÿ˜•

I would imagine they'll stamp you out on the new passport (seeing as the old one is cancelled) and probably tell you that you should have gotten the stamps transferred BEFORE showing up to fly out, but that is just a guess and I think you're gonna find out when you get to passport control to stamp out holding two passports
