Do I need to transfer visa stamps to new UK passport? I went to Lak Si immigration this morning, I was told if you are leaving on the date/or before your extension stamp expires then you just take both PP's to the airport/border and get stamped out on new PP. However, Bkk HMPO PP office say I must get stamps transferred after I have told them this. Any ideas - thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses whether the individual needs to transfer visa stamps from an old UK passport to a new one when leaving Thailand. There's confusion between advice received from Lak Si immigration and the Bangkok HMPO office. The consensus in the comments suggests that if the person is leaving before their visa extension stamp expires, they can simply present both passports at the airport for departure without needing a transfer of stamps.

If you're here on visa exempt it's no problem. Airport will stamp you out in your new passport

You don't mention type of stamp or if you're leaving temporarily or not so cannot answer. I would do what Bangkok I.O. told you to do if a tourist just going home.

My apologies, I have this extension visa.

I am planning to do onetime visa run to Cambodia.

I explained this to them at I.O.

Cheers.

Steve is correct, you're likely on a visa exempt (short term tourist w/30 day extension. Not an extension visa) So no big deal, Laksi advice sounds accurate.
