Another Day another stupid question.

Got new Passport and the writing from the Embassy for the immigration to switch the stamps.

1. Is there a Timeframe to switch?

2. Can I switch stamps only at local immigration OR is it possible to let the immigration at the border )in my case mukdahan) when I leave country in 4 days handle it? Embassy staff know nothing.

Thx in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of switching visa stamps from an old passport to a new one must be completed at your local Thai immigration office and cannot be done at the airport when departing. It's important to do this before leaving the country, especially if you have an extension of stay to avoid complications at border control.

IF you have an extension of stay you should go to the immigration office that issued that extension and get the stamps moved to the new passport before you leave the country.

ESPECIALLY if you're going to mukdahan/savannakhet to get a new visa

I would NOT just show up at the border with two passports thinking things are gonna be all hunky dory ๐Ÿ˜›

That's what I thought. Possible to do it at the Immi in BKK and NOT go back to Nakhon Sawan where I got my 60 days extension BC of family from?

As
@T**
says, you have to go to the immigration office where your current extension was issued, not another office.

Stamps are transferred into your new passport at your local Thai immigration office...

NOT ๐Ÿšซ at the airport as you depart.

Like I said, a Moderator in this Forum said this. My case is a different BC small Landboarder. So I follow the ADVISE from Tod. You gave no advise,Tod gave advise.You said the stamps get transfered at immi. So am wondering why 2 moderators give different informations. Is it forbidden to talk about that?

follow the helpful advice of
@Tod ********
and you will be fine.

Showing up at the Airport carrying both Old and New passports is acceptable. But the Thai immigration officer at the airport does NOT ๐Ÿšซ transfer your stamps from old passport to the new passport.

That's ONLY done at your local Thai immigration office.

A Moderator answered 21 weeks ago you can show up at the Airport with old and new Passport. Someone had TRV and COVID extension and a new Passport BC old running out of Pages.

@Marc ******
and IF you read the good advice of
@Tod ********
in his reply...you will know why the OP needs to get the stamps transferred into the new passport at local Thai immigration office.

The OP in a post of several days ago is going to Laos on a Visa run using land borders.
