Hi,

I have a new passport.

Do I need to transfer the visa exemption?

Should I go to the Immigration office?

Thanks for your answers.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you have a new passport and a visa exemption, it is not strictly necessary to transfer it to the new passport if you are leaving the country soon. It's advisable to keep both the old and new passports, as authorities can exit stamp the new passport. However, if you plan to apply for a new visa, transferring your visa exemption is recommended. You will need to visit the Immigration office with both passports and some documentation, including a letter from your embassy, proof of address registration, and photocopies of various documents related to your identity and travel.

Hi, we just transferred our entry stamp since we had new passports. If you're leaving, it's not required to have it transferred. If you're looking for a new visa, it is required to have it transferred.

We had to go back several times to get this accomplished.

Our first challenge was that our landlord never registered us, so we were not "in the system." You need to be registered to an address in the same province of the immigration office you're visiting. It's good to show up with a copy of your landlord's ID card, hotel/homestay permit, and their address & phone #.

Then you need a photocopy of every single page of your passport (like 30 pages), a photocopy of the front and back of the Departure Card, and photocopy of the first page of your new passport.

Once you have all of that, it takes around 10 minutes.

Thanks for your insight, my embassy told me that they don't transfer but we heard otherwise...so we were confused, specially because of the current situation.

Yes,with the embassy letter

they wont let you transfer if you are on "overstay" unless you have a good reason too (i.e. pending a new visa being affixed)

If you are on visa exempt you mostly likely are

Yes, take the two passports, the letter from your Embassy and visit your local Immigration office
